Home Sweet Home: Kitchen

You guys, how cute is our kitchen!

There are literally no words to describe how happy I am to have our kitchen totally done. [Quick recap: We bought our first home in December 2015. Got married in January 2016. Moved out of our condo in March 2016. Started renovations in April 2016. Completed renovations in September 2016.] So basically, it's been a freaking long road to where we are now and we could not be more thrilled. The kitchen is probably my favorite space in the house because it's so home-y but still has this awesome modern cool look. We have definitely been inspired to cook more and just spend most of our time in this room.

In terms of the process, thank goodness for Pinterest, because those boards were a great way for Adrian and I to collaborate and merge both of our styles into one.  I will say that Adrian is definitely the visionary and had a lot of the great ideas and I became the executor moving forward with the orders and planning.  That "reno-life" is not easy and definitely was the root of many arguments but now that we can sit back and enjoy the kitchen we are so grateful. I will say though, I have learned so much about home, home renovations, home depot, tiles, grout, paints, etc. I could literally go on forever.

Our Wedding Day - Palm Springs, California

Eight months later, maybe it's time for me to post some wedding pictures. We are actually attending a wedding today (as I write this post) which made me really think back on our wedding day and all the preparation, stress, and joys that made the day so special. I cannot believe 8 months has already passed since our big day. Here are just a few of my favorite pictures, but honestly, our photographer (Christine Choi Photography) was so amazing it is impossible to pick favs! You can check out our feature on Style Me Pretty and see more pictures if you'd like.

Sigh, even though planning the wedding was entirely exhausting, looking back at these pictures makes me wish we could go back and do the day all over again. All that planning and attention to detail, Adrian and I both feel like we missed it with all the commotion of the big day. We both wish we could have been guests at our own wedding so we could have truly enjoyed all the little details, but I guess that's just the way it goes.

Here are some of my tips for the soon to be brides:
1) Plan, plan, plan up until the day of. Then, just try to soak up every second because the day will literally fly by.
2) Get a day of planner (at the very least)! I know it may seem like an unnecessary cost but trust me when I say they are worth every penny. While Adrian started out saying "why are we paying someone so much when you're already doing all the work" to "thank goodness we had Laurie, I think she saved us money too!" Our planner/day of coordinator (The Events Department- Laurie Lund) was a life saver from helping negotiate costs to setting up the entire freaking thing. The wedding would have been impossible without her. I honestly do not know how people do it without a day of coordinator because the entire time I was getting my hair and makeup done she was working away at setting up the reception, problem solving, and getting all the vendors in order. Like, how would I have done both?!
3) Pick a few must haves, then work with what you got for the rest. Weddings today have endless options, but it'll cost ya! If you try to pick the perfect everything it will be impossible to stick to a budget. If you don't have one, then girl have at it!

I'm pretty sure where everything is from is listed in the features but if there is anything you'd like to know feel free to ask!

Arts District Engagement Shoot

I've been officially married for one month now, so it's probably time to post about our engagement pictures. 2015 was a whirlwind and looking back I'm amazed by all that we accomplished. We've posted some engagement pictures and were lucky enough to be featured on Style Me Pretty [here]; I'll just share a few of our favorites.

One of the first decisions we made when it came time to book wedding vendors was our photographer. I had seem her work years ago on a friends social media and just loved her style and vibe. I remember thinking, "when I get married I want to use this photographer." Lucky for us, not only was Christine Choi was available and did the most amazing job capturing us (wait till you see these wedding photos!).

We loved how she kept it so real! No crazy filters or props; her style just seems to capture that genuine emotion. She pretty amazing is all we can say.

Work Essentials

Let's be honest, we all love new loot. This week I'm starting my job officially after completing residency at the same place this past year. Even though I know the place and people there was still a sense of excitement, you know like being official official. And so, I needed to start off on the right foot with new work gear.

I figure I'll be needing a lot of coffee and so a cute tumbler is a must. Mine tend to get 'borrowed' by Adrian and then forgotten at work for weeks on end. I picked up this gold zojirushi mug because it's cute, has a lock, and keeps liquid hot for like 10 hour?! In terms of work bag, I've been using a longchamp which has been great. In an effort to switch things up and I picked up this all vegan backup by Matt and Nat. It's super roomy, light weight, and great for work essentials.

That Engagement Life

Probably the biggest news of the year is our engagement. This probably will not be a wedding guide type blog post just because there are way too many of those that do what they do way better than I ever could.

We are about 3 month into our engagement and about 6 months from the wedding date and the entire wedding process has been a whirlwind. Right after getting engaged we talked about what kind of wedding we would want and where we would want it. Basically, we attended a close friends amazing Santa Barbara wedding last year and it really set the bar high. Not only was it beautiful but it was so much fun. Because we had so much fun at this Santa Barbara wedding we wanted to create the same mini-vacation vibe for all of our guests. I give you, Palm Springs.

In a nutshell, we have most of the big things taken care of but still working out the details. Of course, it always comes down to the details.

I graduated!!

like a year ago...

And with that, a whole slew of things has happened. I've decided to give blogging another try. A new start means a blog makeover. Despite the time commitment and at times lack of content, this seems to be the only way I'm able to document milestones in life. This will serve more as a journal of all the things that have happened over the years.

Visit: Runyon Canyon Hike

Runyon Canyon Hike
Los Angeles, CA

My last little hoo-ra before I left for the Arctic. I've heard of all the hikes to the Hollywood sign or hike to see the sign but have never had the chance to make the hike myself. During the last few days of the holiday season we decided to make use of the wonderful weather. I believe it is a 3 mile loop hike that gives you a great view of the Hollywood sign as well as LA. Plus, there are tons of doggies running around the canyon!
